BSCIC must ensure no untreated waste lands in the water

Relocation process of all tanneries from the capital’s Hajaribagh to the designated tannery estate in Savar will be completed by this year, industries minister tells the parliament.

The High Court issues arrest warrant against three Hazaribagh tannery owners for not moving their factories to Savar and not appearing before court despite a summons order.

The High Court summons 10 tannery owners, directing them to appear before it on April 10 on charge of not implementing its 2001 judgment on relocation of hazardous tannery industries from the capital's Hazaribagh area to Savar.

Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu says that rawhide would not be allowed to enter tannery factories at Dhaka’s Hajaribagh to avert environment pollution in this area.
