Pacer Taskin Ahmed missed out while pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib earned a maiden call-up to the Test squad as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-man squad for the first Test of the two-match series against Zimbabwe.

Sylhet Strikers pacer Tanzim Sakib has been handed a 50 percent fine on his match fee and also received three demerit points for his heated exchange with Khulna Tigers all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz during their match in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Sylhet on Sunday.

Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Sakib earned the distinction of claiming the first ever wicket in Global Super League (GSL) and played his part with the ball in Guyana Amazon Warriors’ six-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of GSL at the Providence Stadium in Guyana today.

“We had formed a team in light of the BPL, and we didn’t deviate a lot from that squad. Saifuddin is the only player from the squad we had submitted on the 30th who didn’t make it in the final cut.”

The pacers dominated the proceedings in the ninth round of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) with Mohammedan Sporting Club's Abu Hider Rony claiming a seven-wicket haul and Abahani's Tanzim Hasan Sakib claiming a fifer in separate matches on Saturday.

Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has told BCB that he regrets his Facebook posts while claiming that neither his posts were aimed to hurt anyone nor he is against women. 

Despite not being in the running for the final, Bangladesh ended their Asia Cup on a high by beating India in a tight Super Four game in Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium on Friday.
