Bashundhara Kings centre-back Tariq Kazi has announced the termination of his contract with the club, citing unpaid wages.

With Bangladesh set to host group leaders Australia in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier next month, coach Javier Cabrera is sweating over the combination of his starting eleven due to the unavailability of at least four regular players including defender Bishwanath Ghosh and forward Faisal Ahmed Fahim.

None of the officials from Bashundhara Kings or the national football team were willing to comment on Tariq's current situation.

Tariq, who picked up a shin injury soon after giving Bangladesh a lead against Maldives on June 25, went through four days of rest before Friday's training session.

Though Rakib Hossain, who had also left the pitch with a cramp, attended the recovery session with the team at the Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd Sports Club ground, Tariq missed training and is likely to miss the team's last group match against Bhutan.

Despite putting up poor performances in recent past, Bangladesh showed a bit of improvement and created the hope of holding their superior Lebanon but defensive errors from Tariq Kazi and debutant Isa Faisal caused the downfall of the team.

Seychelles coach Neville Both is wary of challenge posed by Bangladesh’s two centre-backs – Tapu Barman and Tariq Kazi – and midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan ahead of the second FIFA friendly match in Sylhet on Tuesday.

The defenders are doing the job of the forwards by scoring goals for the men in red and green, even though the forwards are statistically still ahead of defenders in terms of scoring international goals.
