Dhaka will seek funds from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and trade privileges, while Washington would want labour reforms and personal data protection during the intercessional meeting of the US-Bangladesh Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (TICFA) Council on April 22.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has enquired about the steps taken by the government to ensure proper trial of the labour leader Shahidul Islam murder case.

The seventh round of meetings under the Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (Ticfa) will begin in Dhaka tomorrow, Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said yesterday.

Bangladesh will again raise the issue of the reinstatement of the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) of the US in the Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (Ticfa) meeting in Washington in November, said Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary to the commerce ministry, yesterday. 

Bangladesh and the United States will hold the second round of Ticfa meeting in Washington on Monday in which Bangladesh will highlight the progress in terms of RMG sector reforms with a high hope to get back GSP benefit in the US market.
