The European Union is set to investigate potential breaches in online content rules by TikTok, according to a recent statement by an EU official. As per the statement, if TikTok is found guilty of breaking rules meant to safeguard children and promote transparent advertising, the popular short-video-sharing platform will be liable to a large fine.

TikTok's 150+ million users in the US will now be able to see videos and live streams with links to purchase items on their feed, as it offers tools to content creators, brands, and merchants to create shoppable content.
