Thousands of passengers suffered immensely yesterday as the schedule of trains heading for the country’s western destinations collapsed.

Train operation in the northern and southern districts under the railway's West Zone has been badly disrupted in the last three to four days due to dense fog.

Home-bound people travelling via trains to the northern and north-western regions continued to suffer today as all intercity train on the routes have been delayed by up to five hours.

The schedule of three out of twenty-two intercity trains that left from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station were delayed, says a railway official.

Although nearly three and half months have elapsed since the government increased the train fares, the railway services remain horribly poor as were in the past.
