Travis Head has decimated bowling attacks in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year but the Australian tempered expectations ahead of next month's Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States, where turning tracks could make batting tougher.

Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma smoked half-centuries as Sunrisers Hyderabad crushed Lucknow Super Giants by 10 wickets on Wednesday to boost their play-off hopes in the IPL.

Opener Travis Head has been the demolition man for Sunrisers Hyderabad with his explosive starts taking the team to two record IPL totals of 277 and 287 this season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma said his good off-field bond with Australian opener Travis Head had translated into a successful partnership at the top of the order after the pair put Delhi Capitals to the sword in the Indian Premier League.

"On a bit of a roll there," Head said of his form after he took second place in the batting chart with 324 runs including a century and two fifties. "Enjoyable, boys are on a roll."

"[Our total] needs a three in front of it, does it now?" Head said at the end of the Hyderabad innings on Monday.

Head smashed the fourth fastest century in IPL history.

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 277-3 for the highest-ever Indian Premier League total in a match against Mumbai Indians with Heinrich Klaasen unbeaten on 80 off 34 balls on Wednesday.

Travis Head earlier contracted the virus after the first Test in Adelaide but tested negative on Tuesday after flying to Brisbane on his own ahead of the second match of the series.

An inspired spell of bowling from Josh Hazlewood and a brilliant attacking century from Travis Head put Australia in complete control of the first Test against the West Indies in Adelaide on Thursday.
