For the two-time champions, the stakes carry an uncomfortable echo of last year.

Yet the expectations behind including Oman, Hong Kong, and hosts UAE in the tournament have largely gone unmet.

This is the seasoned UAE batter’s second time winning the honour, with his previous win coming in April 2024.

The decision was taken following discussions between Emirates Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board. 

UAE reached 192-0 in 16 overs with captain Esha Oza making 113 off 55 balls before deciding to finish their innings early to avoid a washout.

The series will be Bangladesh's first meeting with the UAE in a bilateral T20I series since 2022.
