Crop protection chemical sellers in Bangladesh are facing difficulty in opening letters of credit amid banks’ lack of interest owing to the crunch of the US dollar.

The market will determine the price of the US dollar in the future once the current situation centring it improves, according to Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder.

The US dollar, which had closed at a historic high of Rs200 on Thursday, extended its gains against the rupee for the 11th consecutive session today (Friday) as it gained 25 paisa by close.
