The farmers in Jashore Sadar upazila are all set to export 20 lakh pieces of cabbage to Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan from the region for the first time.

Bangladesh’s earnings from vegetable exports dipped to six-year low in the July-October period of the current fiscal year as high air-freight rates and increased prices eroded the competitiveness of fresh produce.

Fresh fruits and vegetables export bounced back in fiscal 2018-19, ending four straight years of slump, thanks to higher demand and efforts to improve farming and packaging practices in order to produce and ship disease-free crops.
