Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said the Election Commission has provided an accurate percentage of the voter turnout in the 12th national polls held Sunday, and it welcomes anyone who wants to challenge the data.

Dhaka district had the lowest voter turnout in Sunday’s election, with only 25 percent vote cast, according to Election Commission data.

In some constituencies, the voter turnout in the afternoon was supposedly four and a half times that of the morning but it could not go passed 40 percent.

It was 3:12pm and the voting was well underway at Model High School and College in Jatrabari’s Dania area.

Ghorai Chandra Das, an Ansar member stationed at Fulbaria Govt Primary School centre, has been providing security during national elections for the last 40 years.
