Actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty has been named as the recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which is the highest Indian government honour accorded for contributions in the field of cinema. 

Renowned Indian actress Waheeda Rehman, recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest cinematic honour, has made a significant contribution to preserving the heritage of Indian cinema. The 86-year-old icon, celebrated for her stellar performances in timeless classics, has generously donated her personal memorabilia to the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF).

Throughout her five-decade-long journey in the film industry, Waheeda Rehman has been critically acclaimed for her roles in numerous Hindi films. Her best works include, “Pyaasa” (1957), “Kaagaz Ke Phool” (1959), “Chaudhvin Ka Chand” (1960), “Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam” (1962), “Guide” (1965), and “Khamoshi” (1969) amongst others.
