Renowned rock-metal band Warfaze celebrated four decades of their musical journey on June 6 last year. To mark this milestone, the band embarked on a tour of the United States. Following their successful US tour, the band is now heading to Australia to celebrate their 40th anniversary. According to the band members, they will perform concerts in five states across Australia during this one-month-long tour.

A new reality talent show, “The Cage”, aims to elevate the rock band scene in Bangladesh. Launched to provide a platform for emerging rock bands, the competition is designed to showcase undiscovered musical talent from across the country.

Winter tends to mark the arrival of the concert season, with November and December bringing a host of live music events both in Dhaka and beyond. This year is no different, as a concert titled “The Capital” is set to light up the stage on November 15, showcasing performances by 10 bands from around the country.

For four decades now, Warfaze has shaped the sound of Bangladeshi rock and kept the Bengali language thriving through its powerful lyrics and melodies. With numerous albums, awards, and hits under its belt, the band’s influence stretches far beyond the borders of Bangladesh, reaching Bengalis around the globe.

The festivities will kick off with a highly anticipated tour across the United States, set to begin this September.

The monsoon season usually marks a lull in concert activities, however, musicians and bands from the country are keeping busy with performances overseas. Many music artistes are taking the stage in various countries around the globe, including Europe and the United States.

In a significant recognition for Bangladesh’s music scene, Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu, renowned as the co-founder and band Leader of Warfaze, has been appointed as an official artiste for the popular drum brand Zildjian. 

Warfaze, one of the most celebrated bands in Bangladesh, turns 40 years old today. With albums, compositions, awards and several hits to their name, the band has contributed much to the music industry in Bangladesh. They have also played a vital role– through their melodies and lyrics– in keeping the Bengali language alive, thriving and evolving, over several generations and in countries all over the world, where Bengalis live and communicate accordingly. 

Warfaze’s “Obak Bhalobasha” can be said to be a cult classic that remains cherished by those who grew up in the ‘90s. With its meaningful lyrics and beautiful arrangement, it holds an important place in our childhood memories. Therefore, when Coke Studio Bangla announced, that they were going to rearrange the song for its third season, everyone eagerly anticipated Warfaze’s majestic performance.

Renowned guitarist Oni Hasan is set to return to Dhaka after a decade for a series of live shows. This announcement has sparked excitement among his fans, who frequently discuss his potential visits via social media. The anticipation reached a peak yesterday when Hasan himself confirmed the upcoming performances.

The concert, titled “Bijoy Ullash”, is going to take place at Jamuna Future Park’s Players Club on Friday, December 15, from 2 PM to 10 PM.

To usher in the new academic year and extend a warm welcome to the incoming students, Dhaka University is going to host a concert featuring the renowned West Bengal bands Chandrabindoo and Fossils. 

A concert titled “Cholo Bangladesh” has been arranged by Grameenphone in view of the Tigers performing on the biggest stage of the cricket world. The programme will be a musical extravaganza to celebrate the national cricket team’s journey to the ICC Cricket World Cup, so far. The event has been scheduled to be held at the Bangladesh Army Stadium on Friday, October 20.

It was almost 11:30 pm on the clock but the crowd was still spellbound by the mesmerising performance of Nagar Baul’s James. That is the kind of expectation, one attends a concert with and it was the case yesterday too.

The concert will showcase a total of eight bands, including Warfaze, Avoidrafa, Shonar Bangla Circus, Karnival, Aftermath, Plasmic Knock and AK Rahul. But that’s not all! The biggest attraction of this concert will be the living legend Mahfuz Anam James.

Legacy. It’s often an arbitrary word that is thrown around. But very few can truly say that their legacies have been solidified in the stars.

The “Bangladeshi rock band encyclopaedia” is authored by music journalists Milu Aman and Haque Faruk, depicting the chronological history of 180 music bands in the country.
