The authorities have laid out plans for the Rangpur Zoo of Rangpur district and the Bangladesh National Zoo at the capital’s Mirpur. Talks are being held to remodel both the zoos not as places of captivity but as sanctuaries, where animals can roam around freely. Nawab Ahsanullah warned in the press release that he would file charges against anyone who caused any harm to these animals.    

The condition of the country’s zoos is pitiable as these are not run with a modern outlook where zoos are not just an exposition of wild life, but also a research centre.
