Jaago and TikTok host discussion on youth and online safety

Jaago Foundation and TikTok have recently jointly organised a roundtable discussion titled 'National Dialogue on Youth & Online Safety'. According to a press release, the event invited policymakers, tech industry leaders, journalists, academicians, and youth representatives to discuss digital security in Bangladesh and ways to improve it.

Jaago Foundation and TikTok have recently jointly organised a roundtable discussion titled 'National Dialogue on Youth & Online Safety'. According to a press release, the event invited policymakers, tech industry leaders, journalists, academicians, and youth representatives to discuss digital security in Bangladesh and ways to improve it.

As per the press release, the discussion was organised as part of the 'Shabdhane Online A' campaign, launched in 2022. In 2024 and 2025, youth ambassadors from 64 districts carried out awareness activities in 256 educational institutions, educating over 100,000 students on the importance of online safety, states the press release. 

During the roundtable discussion, experts shed light on digital risks in Bangladesh, including cyberbullying, misinformation, and data privacy concerns. They also presented recommendations on how government and private sector collaborations can ensure a safer and more responsible digital space for young users, further adds the press release.

Among the participating speakers were Professor Shamim Al Mamun, Institute of Information Technology, Jahangirnagar University; and Tanvir Chowdhury, Project Manager, Shabdhane Online A Campaign, Jaago Foundation.
