New starships this week

To celebrate Star Wars, we take a break from cars and bring you the latest in battleships. What do you do when you have a bunch of wrecked Imperial Star Destroyer?  Well if you're the New Republic, you weld them together to make a fleet of battleship! Built by Nadiri Dockyards deep inside the Bormea sector, the Starhawk-class Battleship was a class of capital ships built by the New Republic Defense Fleet. At 2,400 meters, these pike nosed behemoths had more than twice the firepower of its Imperial cousins and enough protection to engage three of them at the same time. The class was extensively used during the waning part of the Galactic Civil War, with most of the survivors being deactivated after the Military Disarmament Act.

After the untimely demise of the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, Empire sought for a more budget-friendly planet killer as an interim solution. The Rothana Heavy Engineering responded to this request with the Onager-class Star Destroyer, a capital ship built around two giant Orbital Bombardment Particle Cannon. Although not a planet killer, the Onager was perfectly capable of wiping out any offending city in a single salvo, while staying out of the range of said planet's orbital defenses. In space combat, the canons would devastate any target it could it but, its own lack of protection and secondary weapons made it very venerable to counter attacks.
