Twitter is experimenting with emoji reactions

The company has sent out surveys to the user throughout the month, asking their inputs on how they feel about a broader set of emoji reactions.

"We're exploring additional ways for people to express themselves in conversations happening on Twitter," said a Twitter spokesperson to TechCrunch about the survey.

The surveys proposed a few different sets of reaction emojis, all of which include the heart (like), laughing face with tears (funny), thinking face (interesting) and crying face (sad). One variation includes a shocked face emoji, meant to convey the "awesome" sentiment.

Unlike Facebook, however, Twitter is planning to add like or dislike reactions. Variation includes thumbs up or thumbs down, a "100" in either green or red, or a green and red up and down arrow.

The survey also included a host of questions designed to judge people's reaction to this new change.

Although Twitter did not disclose any release date, when a user's recent request to test emoji reactions instead of just hearts, Twitter Chief Design Officer Dantley Davis replied, "we'll have something for you soon."
