Police have recovered two bodies from separate water bodies in Nilphamari and Rangpur, one of a newborn and the other of a teenage boy.

In Nilphamari's Domar upazila, the floating body of an unidentified newborn was recovered from a fish hatchery in Borogari union's Purbo Borogari Chowdhurypara this morning.

Motiar Rahman, a fish farmer, discovered the body while feeding fish in the hatchery and immediately informed the police.

Confirming the incident, Domar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ariful Islam said that efforts are underway to ascertain the newborn's identity. Further investigation is in process, and necessary legal actions will be taken.

Meanwhile, in Rangpur's Kaunia upazila, the body of a 14-year-old boy, Jim Hossain, was recovered from the Teesta River after he went missing while swimming.

Jim, a resident of the Rail Station Colony area in Rangpur city, had gone to the Teesta Rail Bridge area with friends to celebrate Eid. Around 4:00pm, he went swimming under the bridge but soon disappeared underwater. Hearing the cries for help from his friends, locals rushed to the scene and started searching for him.

Upon receiving the report, police and fire service personnel launched a rescue operation. After nearly two hours of efforts, divers recovered Jim's body at around 6:30pm.

Kaunia Police Station OC Abdul Latif confirmed the matter.
