Four Bangladeshis are killed in a fire at a Sofa factory in Dammam area of Saudi Arabia early today.

At least six people including four Bangladeshis were killed in a fire at a Sofa factory in Dammam area of Saudi Arabia early today.

Sarwar Alam, counselor (Labour Wing) at Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh told The Daily Star over phone that the deceased Bangladeshis are Abu Musa and Ziaur Rahman, son of Abul Kalam of Comilla, Mir Rahman, son of Badiur Rahman of Feni, and Abu Mollah, son of Lokman Mollah of Chandpur.

“The fire broke out around 1:30am (Saudi local time) when they (the workers) were sleeping,” Sarwar said, adding that the factory is located around 400km away from Riyadh.

Bangladeshi migrant Giasuddin used to operate the factory where around 15 workers mostly Bangladeshis were working, Sarwar added.

After completing the police verification, the bodies will be sent back home.

The counselor, however, could not confirm whether they were working legally or not.

Earlier on Friday, another fire incident claimed the lives of three Bangladeshis in Abu Dhabi.
