A Natore court today issued an arrest warrant against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in a defamation case filed for his derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Ahammad Ali, assistant secretary of Awami League’s central sub-committee, filed the defamation case on December 18 with the district’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, reports our Natore correspondent.
The arrest order was issued as Tarique, elder son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, did not appear before the court as per its earlier order.
The court earlier summoned Tarique to appear before it today (February 22), AK Nazibul Islam, said inspector of Natore District Judge Court.
According to the case statement, Tarique called Bangabandhu a “Razakar” in a programme on December 15, 2014 in London.
Meanwhile, at least six more arrest warrants had been issued by different courts against Tarique Rahman till date.
