Biggest promotion spree in civil service

In the biggest-ever promotion in the civil administration, the government today promoted 227 joint secretaries to the post of additional secretary, 288 deputy secretaries were made joint secretaries and 321 senior assistant secretaries were elevated to the rank of deputy secretary.

The large-scale promotion came three months after the Awami League-backed grand alliance government retained power in the January 5 parliamentary election.

The public administration ministry issued separate gazette notifications last night in this regard upon getting approval of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Earlier on March 24, the ministry sent a summary containing names of the officials to be promoted for her nod.
