Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad today asked members of different law enforcement agencies to stay impartial and vigilant for a credible and transparent election tomorrow.

“I am directing you to carry out your duties with the highest level of vigilance. Any laxity or partiality by the law enforcers won’t be tolerated,” he warned.

The CEC also ordered all involved with the polling in Dhaka and Chittagong elections to discharge the duties as “state responsibility”.

“Otherwise, stern actions will be taken,” the CEC sounded a note of warning while speaking at a press briefing at the Election Commission Secretariat this evening.

Around 60 lakh people will be voting tomorrow to choose mayors and councillors for the Dhaka North, Dhaka South and Chittagong city corporations, he added.

In a bid to ensure fool-proof security of the voters, around 80 thousand law enforcers will be on duty during the polls, said the CEC.

In addition, 100 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh will be on the streets.
