Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said charges will soon be framed against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed Karim, who was arrested over issuing of fake coronavirus test reports and extracting exorbitant fees in the name of treatment.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said charges will soon be framed against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed Karim, who was arrested over issuing of fake coronavirus test reports and extracting exorbitant fees in the name of treatment.

"Shahed, who was arrested for cheating people, will be given a charge sheet very soon. Besides, all cases against him and his accomplices are being investigated," he told newsmen at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).

The minister said, "Police are doing what they have to do. He got bail in several cases. But we will now look into all the cases filed against him. He must face punishment. No criminals will be spared in any way."

Replying to the query of a journalist, he said, Shahed has committed a serious crime in the name of Covid-19 testing. He tarnished country's image and for this, he has been arrested. All the networks of his deception have been cut off.

"We have taken Shahed's issue very seriously," he added.

Referring to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's relentless efforts to establish rule of law in the country, Kamal said the enforcement agencies are working to find out other people involved and remained behind the scene as well.
