Coast Guard detains 16 for stealing from Sangu Gas Field

Bangladesh Coast Guard detained 16 members of a gang of thieves for trying to steal properties of Sangu Gas Field in the Bay of Bengal early today.

The criminals were arrested after a team of Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a drive around 5:00am in the gas field based on a tip-off, according to a press release issued in this regard.

The detainees were caught trying to remove important structures from the establishment, adds the press release.

The officials also seized crucial structures of the gas field, pipes, gas cutters, and cylinders from the detainees.

During the primary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they have been stealing objects from the facility for a while, reads the press release.

They were handed over to Patenga Model Police Station for further action.
