A cement bag with eight crude bombs was dropped from a CNG-run autorickshaw near the city’s busy Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue this evening creating panic in the area.

Five of the crude bombs exploded after a bus drove over the bag which was thrown off from the CNG-run autorickshaw on the main road around 7:30pm, Officer-in-Charge (Operation) of Tejgaon Police Station Hasnat Khandker told The Daily Star.

The explosion created quite a panic on the busy street following which a bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) went to the spot, the official said.

They barricaded a part of the Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue and disposed of the three remaining crude bombs around 9:30pm.

Security in the city has been heightened centering the verdict on the Holey Artisan café attack case scheduled to be delivered today.
