Nagorik Oikya postpones scheduled rally following leak of its convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna's controversial phone conservation

A day after the leak of a controversial phone conservation allegedly between Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka, the platform postponed its today’s rally.

The rally started around 3:00pm on the Jatiya Press Club premises. But minutes later, Nazmul Hasan, convener of Nagorik Chhatra Oikya, announced the postponement of the programme “due to unavoidable circumstances”.

Talking to The Daily Star, Nazmul said the rally was postponed as Manna was feeling unwell.

Manna’s Press Secretary Shuvo Muntasir told The Daily Star that he did not know the whereabouts of the Nagorik Oikya convener.

The leaked phone conversation between Manna and Khoka created quite a stir across the country today.

Contacted, Shahidullah Kaisar, a central committee member of the platform, said the phone clip has been published with “ill-intention”.

Nagorik Oikya will brief the media on the leaked audio clip at Jatiya Press Club at 11:00am tomorrow.
