PCJSS threatens fresh agitation

Parbattya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti will go for a non-cooperation movement against the government from May if a specific timeline for full implementation of CHT peace accord is not declared by April 30. 
“The government is intentionally not implementing the accord while the situation in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region is deteriorating day by day,” said PCJSS President Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, known as Santu Larma.
“If the government does not come forward and declare a timeline for full implementation of the accord within April 30, it [government] will be held responsible for any situation in the region as a consequence,” he said.
Larma, also chairman of CHT Regional Council, issued this ultimatum while inaugurating the 16th district council of Pahari Chhatra Parishad in Bandarban yesterday.  
“The accord is not being fully implemented due to the ill intentions of the government and conspiracies hatched by a vested quarter, communal and fundamentalist groups and ultra-nationalists,” he alleged.
Besides, a conspiracy is being devised to turn the CHT into a Muslim-dominated region with the eviction of the jumma people from their ancestral land, Santu Larma told his audience.
He further said the government was conspiring to abolish the jumma nation by establishing a medical college and a science and technology university in the name of development. “It is nothing but a cunning stratagem to occupy the land of jumma people.”
Without full implementation of the CHT peace accord, it is not possible to ensure perennial peace in the region, he added. 
Santu Larma also condemned the recent attack on a vehicle of PCJSS supporters that left at least nine indigenous people injured, and demanded punishment of those involved in the attack.
