There's an old Bangla proverb which roughly translates into "if you waaste candles during daylight, you won't be able to burn those at night when you need them". Streetlights on many of the roads in Chittagong 's Jamalkhan area remain lit during the day. As a result, it not only wastes money and energy, but also makes residents suffer in form of load shedding. The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) is responsible for maintaining the streetlights.
