Truck helper killed in Jashore road accident

A truck helper was killed and two people were injured as a truck hit the gate of a rice mill on Jashore-Satkhira Road after the vehicle lost control in Jashore's Manirampur upazila today.

The deceased is Bijay, 28, son of Jahangir Hossain in Rajapur village of Meherpur's Sadar upazila, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting police.

The injured were truck driver Hridoy Sheikh, 28, and another Zahidul Islam, 26.

The incident happened in Payaratala Mor area this afternoon when helper Bijay was driving the truck and the driver was asleep, said Sheikh Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Manirampur Police Station.

Witnesses said the truck carrying plastic pipes coming from Jashore town hit the rice mill gate and entered inside it. At that time, the pillar of the gate broke and fell on the truck.

Amjad Hossain, station officer of Manirampur Fire Station, said the body of the helper was in the driver's seat.
