Two children drown in Kurigram canal

Two children drowned in a canal in Tepakutir village under ​​Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram yesterday evening.

The deceased are: Riya Moni, 4, daughter of Rubel Fakir of Teparkuti village; and Atiqur Rahman, 5, son of Rasel Mia of neighbouring Charbalabari village. They were cousins.

The children were playing near their house. At one point, they fell in the canal and drowned. Their bodies were later found floating in the canal, said Rubel.

Nazmul Alam, officer-in-charge of Kachakata Police Station, confirmed the incident.
