Oman extends entry ban from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan

To curb Covid-19 transmission, Oman has extended the entry ban from 12 countries -- including Bangladesh, India and Pakistan -- until further notice, effective from 2pm (local time) on June 5.
The decision to extend the entry ban was taken at a meeting of the country's Supreme Committee on Covid-19 today, reports Oman News Agency (ONA).
The other countries on the entry ban list are United Kingdom, Sudan, Brazil, Nigeria, Egypt, the Philippines, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia.
Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam have been newly added to the entry ban list.
At the same time, the country has relaxed several restrictions, including allowing mosques to open and lifting the night-time ban on commercial establishments.
In addition, the opening of beaches and public parks, group sports activities in open spaces and the reopening of gyms at half capacity has been allowed, with emphasis on avoiding rallies and adhering to strong preventive measures.
In the meantime, Omanis and expatriates working in bordering Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will be allowed to travel across land borders, subjected to the presentation of evidence of their work requirements from employers.
