Chittagong University to celebrate 56th founding anniversary tomorrow
Chittagong University (CU) is going to celebrate its 56th founding anniversary tomorrow (Thursday).
The university authorities are all set to celebrate the day chalking out different programmes, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.
CU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Shireen Akhter will inaugurate the programme on the university's Central Shaheed Minar premises at 10:00am maintaining health rules.
Later, teachers and students will bring out a procession on the campus.
Information Minister Dr Hasan will be present as the chief guest at a discussion to be held at 12pm there, said the CU VC.
Arts and Humanities faculty Dean Professor Dr Mohibul Aziz will present a keynote-paper focusing the university's history, heritages, traditions and achievements, said the VC.
A colourful cultural function will be held following the discussion, she added.
CU was established on November 18 of 1966 with four departments, seven teachers and 200 students in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram.
At present, it has nine faculties, 48 departments and six institutes where around 900 teachers are assigned for 28,000 students.
