JU gets new BCL committee

Jahangirnagar University unit of Chhatra League announced a two-member partial committee this evening.

Akhtaruzzaman Sohel and Habibur Rahman Liton have been made president and general secretary of the new BCL committee respectively, said a press release.

The release was signed by BCL Central President and General Secretary Al-Nahean Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharje respectively.

Sohel is a student of Public Health and Informatics department and Liton is a student of philosophy department. They both served as assistant secretary in the previous committee.

But allegations surfaced against them that they are from 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic sessions and so they were supposed to complete their master's degree by this year.

JU has regular students now from session 2015-16 who are in master's degree at most of the departments.

While asked, claiming him as a regular student, Sohel said, "I dropped my first year and then continued. Now I am a regular student."

According to media reports, Liton along with his two fellows earlier were seen carrying guns during an infighting between the university's Moulana Bhasani Hall and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall though they denied the allegations at that time.

However, this newly selected secretary could not be reached over phone.
