Number of seats to be rearranged for 1st year students at DU
The Dhaka University authorities have taken the initiative to rearrange the number of seats for the first-year honour's students.
The university's deans committee came up with the recommendation at a meeting which was presided over by DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhteruzzaman, reports our DU correspondent.
The move will be effective from the 2021-2022 academic session.
However, the final decision will be taken after further review at the meeting of the Academic Council.
DU VC Prof Md Akhteruzzaman said this initiative is being taken as the number of students is more than the infrastructure facilities.
"The number of seats will be rearranged. This means the number of seats now available in departments and institutes may be reduced. In some cases, it may even increase," said the VC.
DU was established in 1921. Although the number of teachers and students are increasing every year; the infrastructure facilities have not increased at that rate.
This has created various crises including accommodation. Recently, the DU authorities initiated a master plan to solve the infrastructure problems of the university.
