Primary schools abuzz again as students return to class

Little, happy faces were entering schools -- eagerly anticipating reunion with friends and teachers after a break.

Teachers too seemed glad to be back at school.

Many of the little ones were seen on the swings, at the playground, before classes began.

After visiting Mohammadpur Government Primary School, our photojournalist Prabir Das said the school reopened with classes 3 to 5 from noon, maintaining health rules.

Most of the students went to school wearing masks. They were allowed to sit maintaining distance.

Directorate of Primary and Mass Education officials earlier said classes will be divided into two shifts. Students of first and second grade will have their classes in the first shift and others in the second.

Educational institutions were closed on March 17, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and resumed partially on September 12 last year.

Following a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases, the government again shut down all schools and colleges for two weeks from January 21. The closure for primary schools was later extended till March 1.
