Students, parents protest in front of a Savar school demanding admission
More than 60 students and parents blocked the road in front of a school in Savar municipality area as the students were unable to get admission according to the school's rules.
They were protesting in front of Savar's Adharchandra Government High School. They also blocked Savar Thana road in front of the school at the time, our local correspondent reported.
The parents said that their children completed fifth grade from the school. According to the school's rule, after finishing fifth grade, students will be admitted to sixth grade. Students were previously admitted under this rule.
However, 61 students were unable to get admission this time. The parents have communicated with the school officials. In response, the school officials said they would admit the children yesterday, but they have not done that yet, the parents claimed.
They have taken to the streets as their children's future is uncertain.
"Our only demand is that our children be admitted to the school," a parent named Dawood Ahmed said. "Allow our children to be prioritised," he added.
Rokeya Haque, the head teacher of Adharchandra Government High School, could not be reached immediately.
