Bhumijo organises children's fair in Dhaka’s Mohakhali

A children's fair titled "Rang Tulite Amar Desh" was held at Mohakhali in Dhaka today.
Bhumijo, a social-work group, organised the fair where a number of children attended.
The renowned writer Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
While addressing the programme, Zafar Iqbal said that the event was organised in front of a public toilet premises which was beyond expectation.
"I am truly amazed to see the modern toilet facilities here. This initiative should be spread in different cities and all over the country, he said.
Farhana Rashid Tonu, founder and CEO of Bhumijo, said, "Through the event, they are raising awareness for a healthy city by providing basic civic amenities such as a hygienic public toilet, children's playground, etc."
"By ensuring those facilities, we can ensure a livable city for all," she added.
Storyteller and singer Ashish Bhattacharya Bitu (Bitumama) was also present at the event.
The speakers also expressed their dissatisfaction for not having adequate playgrounds for children in the mega city Dhaka.
There were various creative arrangements at the event including crafting, playing with clay and sand, drawing, storytelling, among others. An exhibition of children's painting was also held in the fair.
