The Cynic

She wouldn't know friendship if it shook her right hand,
A gesture of kindness, she'll never understand.
She couldn't tell love if it looked her in the eyes,
For all she's ever learned, is that life is full of lies.
Neglecting parents and so called true friends,
All the smiles and laughter, she only pretends.
Because she knows when she needs them all they ever do,
Is console from afar and leave her alone in the blue.
How could she believe in what she has never ever even seen?
Because mother never gave the talk when she turned sixteen.
Daddy has always missed her shows with an excuse about work,
Always overlooked her love with that of the office clerk.
Friends, if you can call them that, only sided her in good times,
Somehow they all fled to dust when life had thrown her limes.
Do you blame her for her cynicism? Do you blame her for that frown?
It's not that she was born this way, it's just that life had let her down.
