The 1991 batch of Government Science College (GSC) recently provided food to around 200 lower-middle income families and groups in different parts of Dhaka, including Mirpur, Uttara, Rayer Bazar, Badda, Basabo and Banasree.

GSC '91, a youth-led, social welfare organisation, consisting of students of the institute from 1989 to 1991, took this initiative.

From May 6, they collected funds from their peers and distributed food packages to each family. The packages included rice, lentils, potatoes, onions, salt, sugar, vermicil and cooking oil.

''Our volunteers are working hard to reach out to the vulnerable families with food," said Abdus Sattar, coordinator of the organisation. He added that their volunteers wear personal protective equipment and maintain social distance during the relief distribution.

The organisation started the food distribution as their efforts to help people in need during this time of crisis.
