Instant Blood: Connecting patients to nearest plasma donors
Saraban Tahura Turin, founder of Xen Tech and Turtle Venture, recently developed an app, called Instant Blood that connects COVID-19 patients with nearby plasma donors. The idea of such a platform emerged from numerous posts on social media. "As the cases began to rise, my acquaintances started getting infected. The app was designed in an attempt to help people," Turin shared. A team of close to twelve young developers took two weeks to create the platform. The feedback received from users is quite encouraging, as the team continues to make last minute design changes. The app is currently available for download on Google Playstore.
Founded in 2018, Turtle Venture intends to create a healthy startup ecosystem for young entrepreneurs. It provides institutional capital and shares valuable resources that can further help a startup on the path towards success. "Talking about everyday problems is easy but finding a solution requires a lot of passion and hard work. Young entrepreneurs are problem solvers and as a result, their ideas must be valued," Turin said. In the last few years, Turtle Venture has assisted over ten emerging startups.
Turin is also the Country Director of Youth Hum, a Malaysia based platform that facilitates innovation, technological growth and entrepreneurship for young people. They are currently working to initiate classes on coding in Bangladesh.
In addition, Turin founded Binary Crew, a platform that teaches children about programming. "While connecting them to the creative aspects of programming, I want children to develop a passion for technology," she added. Till now, Binary Crew has conducted over 15 sessions in Brahmanbaria, Comilla, Sylhet and Chattogram, with discussions on science, space and astrophysics.
