Last night when I was dreaming of how it used to be

Last night when I was dreaming of how it used to be
There was a smile on my lips
Prominent against my pale face.
A skip in my heartbeat
Sudden and exciting.
Followed by a laugh
Soft and real.
A feeling of authenticity
From the inner soul.
But when I woke up this morning,
And stood in front of the mirror
I was shackled, and forced back into reality.
I am nothing
Without my feelings,
Nothing without
My tears and laughter.
I am nothing
But a whole lot of emptiness,
I am,
But a ghost of the girl I used to be.
