In-person classes of newly enrolled college students from March 2

Colleges across the country are set to start in-person classes for the newly-enrolled Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) students from March 2 -- eight months after the scheduled time, due to the Covid-19 situation.
Usually the new academic year for HSC and equivalent courses begins on July 1.
"Colleges will start holding the classes from March 2 and classes will be held in person," Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Director General Prof Nehal Ahmed said.
Nehal said that students who have two doses of Covid-19 vaccine will be allowed to join classes. "As far as I know almost all students have received both shots of Covid-19 vaccines," he said.
He said that the routine for the newly admitted is yet to be fixed but they will try to hold at least four classes per day.
Dhaka Education Board College Inspector Prof Abu Taleb Md Moazzem Hossain said that so far a total of 13 lakh students have enrolled to class XI at colleges across the country.
He said that the enrolment process of candidates who did not get desired colleges is still on. However, their application process ended today.
They will be able to get admitted into colleges on March 1 and 2.
Online enrolment to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent courses began from January 8. Each student was allowed to apply to five to 10 colleges with a single form.
