Sporsho to release more Braille books

Sporsho, a publication house, has been publishing Braille editions of books for the visually impaired since the last 11 years. This year, they have come up with 8 more Braille books from prominent writers such as Ramendu Majumdar, Emdadul Haque Milon and Nilima Ibrahim.

Recently,  Nazia Jabeen, the founder of the organisation, planned a free book-give-away session at Kobi Shamsur Rahman Seminar Hall, Bangla Academy. The event was presided over by writer and dramatist Ramendu Majumdar.  The event started with Nazia's welcome address. Her welcome address was followed by a musical performance by the students of Baptist Mission Integrated School.

A book reading session of Imdadul Haque Milon'sValobashar Sukh Dukkho with Sadia Afrin Trisha, was also held, followed by Asif  Karim Patoary's reading of   Ramendu Majumdar's Amar School and Sarowat Hossain Bushra reading  Begum Momotaz Latif'sGolperEk Din,  Md Tariqul Islam Rahul reading of Louis Braille by Margaret Davidson, Anika from BMIS reading Nazia Jabeen's Toru, Shohini reading Sporsho Golpo and Tamanna Akter reading Nilima Ibrahim's Ami BirongonaBolchi.

In her speech, Begum Momotaz Latif addressed the importance of a Braille press.

"We have come up with 67 Braille books so far. However, we have a long way to go," said Ramendu Majumdar. "I request publication houses to have a Braille press so that young visually impaired readers can read whatever they wish to."

The session concluded with the distribution of free among the participating students after the formal launch of all the books.
