Günter Grass remembered in Faridpur

Günter Grass, the renowned German novelist who passed away last month, received tributes in Faridpur at a commemorative ceremony at Teachers' Training (TT) College Campus on Friday morning.

Günter Grass, the renowned German novelist who passed away last month, received tributes in Faridpur at a commemorative ceremony at Teachers' Training (TT) College Campus on Friday morning. 

The programme was organised by a local group Humayun Kabir Smrity Puroskar Parishad with an opening session of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Bachelor of Education (B.ed ) programme. 

The programme included a discussion on the vivid lifestyle of the poet, rendition of songs and exhibition of books and photographs of Grass – a playwright, illustrator, graphic artist and sculptor. 

Acclaimed photo journalist Nasir Ali Mamun was the chief guest at the programme. Singer Rashid Ahmed Titu rendered songs on the occasion. A number of photographs of Grass captured by Nasir Ali Mamun were exhibited on the occasion.  

Nobel Laureate Grass died of a lung infection on April 13, 2015, at the age of 87.
