Rural makeover
Surer Dhara, one of the leading musical schools in the country, is all set to hold its annual event “Poush Utshab” at the premises of Lalmatia Housing Society School and College in the capital.
The festival, first held in 2015, will feature traditional cultural shows including nagordola, puppetry show, bioscope, jatra, shops selling handcrafted materials and more. The entire festival premises will get a rural makeover resembling thousand-year old Bangali tradition. In addition, there will be a musical show starting at 6pm everyday which will feature dance, musical performances and pachali recitation by the artistes of Surer Dhara.
Moreover, there will be baul gaan and palagaan featuring Tuntun Fokir, Rob Fokir, Golapi from Chheuria, Kushtia and Islam Uddin Boyati from Kishoreganj on the second day.
Celebrated writer Professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal will inaugurate the festival today at 3pm along with other distinguished guests and Surer Dhara founder Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya.
The organisation has invited 450 eminent citizens of different fields to participate in the festival.
Throughout the two days, distinguished guests including Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman; Finance Minister AMA Muhit; Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu; Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and litterateur Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam will attend the programme and deliver speeches.
On the opening night, Surer Dhara family will also celebrate the birthday of Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya.
The two-day festival will run everyday till 12am in the midnight. Channel i will air the important parts of the programme live.
