International Art Exhibition in Mymensingh

A two-day international art exhibition with artworks by 16 young artists of Bangladesh and China began at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) in the town on Wednesday.

A two-day international art exhibition with artworks by 16 young artists of Bangladesh and China began at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) in the town on Wednesday.

Bangladesh-China Friendship Center (BCFC), Bangladesh National Museum and Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh jointly organised the exhibition titled “International Young Artist Art Exhibition”.

Of the total 16 artists, seven from Bangladesh and nine from China joined the exhibition with their 31 artworks drew on different aspects of lives and nature in China, sources said.

The Bangladeshi artistes are: Mohammed Ibrahim and Sajol Chandra Nath of Chittagong University; Mustahida Rehoman Kiron and Sumon Kumar Sarker of Rajshahi University; Md Anisul Haque of Dhaka University; Shapla Singha of Khulna University; and Bakul Mia of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University in Mymensingh.

The young artistes from different institutions of China are: Zhou Lingzi, Huang Liyou, Shi Jinsong, Peng Yi, Zhu Fulin, Dai Yongqiang, Qing Kejun, Ding Hong and Ling Jian.

Talking to this correspondent, Bakul Miah said, seven artistes from Bangladesh were selected through a competition to visit China this year. We joined exhibitions, workshops, and view-exchange meetings in China and also visited different historical places during the 15-day tour in July this year. 

The exhibition, first of its kind in Mymensingh, was organised on the basis of our China tour, said Bakul. 

Yang Shichao, Charge d'Affairs, Embassy of China inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest.

BCFC's president M Delwar Hossain, its general secretary HM Jahangir Alam Rana, chairman of the exhibition organizing body Engr M Abu Taher and deputy keeper of the art gallery Dr Bijoy Krishna Banik also addressed the opening session, among others.
