Bir Protik Ouderland premieres today

A documentary titled, “Bir Protik Ouderland” on William AS Ouderland, the only foreign national who was bestowed with Bir Protik title for his participation in the Liberation War of Bangladesh, is off the ground.

Directed by Mahbubur Rahman Babu, it has been jointly produced by P R Placid (Bangladesh) and Horiyoke Nawa (Japan), along with Channel i representative Raju Alim as the project consultant. The documentary was shot in Australia, Netherland, Germany and Bangladesh, and will premiere today (August 10) at 4pm at Liberation War Museum, Segunbagicha, Dhaka.3

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu will be present as chief guest at the screening. Special guests at the event include Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique and Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, former Bangladesh ambassador and permanent representative to the UN; former Bangladesh high commissioner to Australia Lt. Gen. Masud Uddin Chowdhury, BFUJ president Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, former PSC chairman Ikram Ahmed, Liberation War Museum trustee Mufidul Haque and DIG (Special Branch) of Bangladesh Police Mahbub Hossain.

Ouderland has contributed much to our country's Liberation War, and we feel it is our responsibility to recognise his contributions. It is also an attempt to document our history and we hope the documentary will attract worldwide attention to this soldier,” said Raju Alim.
