Artists team up to save a life
Prominent and promising artists alike have teamed up to save life of Muttaki Islam Omi, a patient suffering from late-stage stomach cancer.
Shishir Bhattacharjee, Sabbyasachi Hazra, Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, Tanzir Tuhin [of Shirinamhin], Manobendra Golder, Sabyasachi Mistry, Biplob Chakroborty, Zakir Ahmed and Rajib Koraia have designed and printed 4000 T-shirts with 12 unique designs, the proceeds from whose sales will go to Omi's treatment fund.
With the theme “Buy a T-Shirt to save Omi”, several artists and friends of Omi have arranged a programme today at Chhobir Haat, Shahbagh in the capital. Starting from 4pm, the event will continue till 9pm.
Apart from the T-shirt exhibition, other attractions of the event include performing arts, mime show by DU Mime, Cartoon exhibition by Mehedi Haque, painting exhibition by various artists, traditional musical instrument recital, recitation, folk songs, puppet show and live music performance by Arnob.
The proceeds from the sales of cartoons, paintings, T-shirts will also go into the treatment fund for Omi.
Omi is undergoing an expensive chemotherapy and chemo radiation at the Tata Memorial Hospital in India. His family is no longer able to support the high-cost treatment on their own, but his friends, with the help of artists and creative souls, are making a push for his recovery.
