Veteran actor ATM Shamsuzzaman was hospitalised on Friday and underwent surgery on Saturday. He is currently under a 72-hour observation. SA Haque Alik, the general secretary of Directors’ Guild, confirmed the news.

Veteran actor ATM Shamsuzzaman was hospitalised on Friday and underwent surgery on Saturday. He is currently under a 72-hour observation.  SA Haque Alik, the general secretary of Directors’ Guild, confirmed the news.

His illness originated from indigestion. Shamsuzzaman’s film career started in 1961, as the assistant director in Udayan Chowdhury’s Bishkonna. He further gained popularity as an actor for his role in Amzad Hossain’s Noyonmoni. The actor was awarded with the Ekushey Padak in 2015.
