Nipa and Shibli Perform in USA

Folk dance drama “Mahua” was staged in Dallas (USA) on February 27 with noted danceus Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad in lead roles.

Folk dance drama “Mahua” was staged in Dallas (USA) on February 27 with noted danceus Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad in lead roles. The cultural event was organised by Academy of Bangla Arts and Culture (ABAC) of Dallas, says a press release. 

Thirty Bangladeshi students and youth of Dallas participated in a Dance workshop for dance drama “Mahua” conducted by Shamim Ara Nipa, Shibli Mohammad and Abul Hasan Tapan. “Mahua” was the outcome of the workshop. It was directed by Shamim Ara Nipa. 

A workshop on Nazrul songs was also held in Dallas, conducted by popular singer Fatema-Tuz Zohra. It was followed by a Nazrul Sangeet porgramme by Fatema-Tuz Zohra and the students attending the workshop. 

The event was took place at City Performance Hall of Dallas. Rashed Hussain, founder and president of ABAC delivered the welcome address. 

Every year, ABAC organises dance or music workshop for local Bangladeshi youths followed by a cultural event. It is a unique inititive by the non-resident Bangladeshi Cultural Organisation.
